Peak District Rangers
On Sunday 26th April, two keen volunteers showed up for the task in the peaks. The Peak District Rangers picked us up from Grindleford train station and took us along the Snake's Pass to Derwent Valley where we worked on a maturing woodland that was planted about 10 years ago.
The task included removing stakes and guards from the growing trees as they were starting to damage the trees. The plastic guards also look rather ugly when driving up the valley. With the little manpower we had, we’ve done a really good job. However the Peak District Volunteer Rangers have quite a few weekends of work left before finishing the whole area.
We had really enjoyed ourselves. The nests filled with peculiar coloured eggs and a very lonely toad have made our hard work worthwhile.
A big thank you to Peak District Rangers for having us, we are looking forward to working with you again.
