Westfield
On Saturday the 9th of May a big group of us headed across Sheffield to Westfield to join forces with Westfield Big Local. They are a community run group based at the community centre by Shortbrook School. In the morning we helped out with a litter pick in the surrounding area, followed by a conservation task of planting wild flowers. Alec Jones was our master gardener, having sourced the wild flower seeds donated from Kew Gardens and taught us about what we were planting and why. Why? For saving the bees! And all the other pollinators that are very necessary for pollination services.
Hopefully our flowers will be grown and looking pretty in a few months, and we look forward to coming back to check out our handiwork. It was then back to the centre for a lovely lunch and a well-earned rest.
Thank you to everyone at Westfield Big Local, for the lunch, the transport and being so welcoming, and thanks to everyone who came along on the task. To anyone that missed out, join us next year when we come back!
Mollie
