Woodlice Workshop!
On 31st of October, SUCV held a workshop on the identification of woodlice. We were joined by Mr. Paul Richards from the Animal and Plant Science department to introduce our 17 enthusiastic volunteers to these beautiful creatures.
The morning session included a lecture on the anatomy and distinctive features of different species of woodlice found in the UK which was followed by a walk around the Ponderosa. We looked for different invertebrates lurking under the rocks and managed to find a rare species of a harvestmen - Platybunus pinetorum, the fourth recording in the UK!
Thanks to everyone who came along made our first workshop of the year a success!
